Volunteers Are Needed!

The Wayne County Historical Society is supported by a dedicated group of volunteers who are active in all aspects of society operations. Retirees, high school students, families, business and professional people, young adults and teachers are among those who donate their time. Our mission, is to preserve Wayne County's heritage and share that heritage with its citizens. It can only be accomplished with the help of our volunteers.

Here are a few of the jobs they do:

Urgently needed are Tour Guides! Tour guides go through a complete training process with periodic updates and special interest workshops. Members of the various Acquisitions Committees work with artifacts, displays and research. Building and Grounds volunteers help clean permanent exhibits, work on the grounds to repair and maintain historical society buildings and sometimes assist in the dismantling of buildings on other sites for rebuilding on our campus. Volunteers are also needed for Special Events, acting as hosts, manning the information booth or assisting with children's activities. Or, for those with an organizational bent, there's the Board of Trustees and an opportunity to help direct the future direction of the Wayne County Historical Society.

Sound interesting? To volunteer We'd love to have you! Please call 330-264-8856 to get started as a volunteer at the Wayne County Historical Society.
